OPPO launch new Find 7 & Find 7a in India

New Delhi: OPPO, the Chinese newcomer to the Indian market has launched their second set of high end phones upon the Indian market, after their initial entry earlier in the year. Launched to a great setup, a test zone, and beautiful European models, OPPO have certainly pulled out all the stops in order to try and get the bloggers excited about their new devices.

Let’s start off with the OPPO Find 7, the Find range flagship, and certainly the most impressive OPPO model yet:

  • Display – 5.5-inch IPS LCD Display with 2560 x 1440 resolution (534 PPI) and Gorilla Glass 3

As you can tell, the phone is quite outstanding in the specs department – almost on par with the best phones in the world. Of course, it will really depend on how the phone performs in the real world as specs on paper always look impressive. The phone however is priced very well, at Rs. 37,990 – much lower than any high end phone with similar specs on the market. OPPO of course also boast a range of software camera tricks such as the ability to stick 10 photos together to create a 50mp image (clearly aimed at the current king, the 41mp Lumia 1020). We did a few comparison shots between the two to see how well they really do, though we weren’t’ able to copy the 50mp image itself (The Lumia 1020’s camera seemed to outperform the OPPO model in zoom and quality when we tried, though we’ll wait for the final model to see the differences).

The biggest draw however might be the fast charge (called VOOC by OPPO) which allows the phone to be completely charged in 1 hour. That’s fairly impressive for a large battery, however we’ll be seeing how the battery drain is – as that’s more crucial than a fast charge phone.

The Oppo Find 7a is the more affordable version of the Find 7, but with slightly lower specs – however the specs still remain constant with mid-high end devices, so that is to be commended.

  • Processor – Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400
  • Display – 5.5-inch IPS LCD Display with 1920 x 1080 resolution (401 PPI) and Gorilla Glass 3
  • RAM – 2GB
  • Storage – 16 GB with Micro SD Card slot (up to 128GB)
  • Camera – 13 megapixel Camera with dual LED Flash (4K UHD video recording at 30fps), 5 Megapixel Front Facing Camera
  • Battery – 2,800 mAh
  • Weight – 170 grams
  • Size – 152.6 x 75 x 9.2 mm
  • OS – ColorOS UI
  • Colours – Black & White

A dumbed down version, without losing much of the specs. The 50mp stitching ability is still in this model. Priced at Rs. 31,990, the Find 7a is quite a decently priced phone. The fast charge VOOC is also available in this model, but like we said – if the drain is bad, VOOC won’t make a difference at the end of the day.

Overall a great event, we hope to review the Find 7 soon.
