Pokemon X & Y announced, the world’s first true Pokemon 3D game

Pokemon games have been around for what seems like forever, and the Nintendo 3DS has been out for just over 3 years, and ever since it came out Pokemon fans have been begging for a 3D game. Unfortunately 2 generations of Pokemon games came and went without a single 3D feature, but it looks like our fortunes have finally changed today with Nintendo and Pokemon announcing Pokemon X & Pokemon Y, the first 3D Pokemon games, and boy are we amped to play this! Slated for October, these rather generically named games couldn’t come soon enough, but until then we’re sure the details, pictures and videos shall keep you entertained.
Pokemon Black & White (1 & 2) both featured different starting Pokemon’s, and it seems that this generation will be no different with 3 new starter Pokemon’s – grass-type chipmunk-with-a-hat Chespin, fire-type foxy Fennekin and water-type frog-thing Froakie. The entire game is also in 3D from the gameplay to Pokemon Battles (!!!) to the Pokemon. It’s hard not to get excited at this new prospect.
CEO of The Pokémon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara had this statement to make: “The worldwide launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y this October allows players to begin their adventures at the same time. Now, Pokémon fans across the globe can discover the secrets of Pokémon games and can collect, battle, and trade with each other immediately.” Dear god give it to us now please!
Like we said, the game is coming in October of this year and by all accounts, it looks to be a bold new step for Pokemon games (and the first real innovative Pokemon game in a long time). As it’s a 3D game, we believe it will only be available for the 3DS though the same game may possibly work for the DS. Time will tell, but for now feel free to watch the first video featuring gameplay and battles below!
