LOTRO Announces Riders of Rohan Expansion for 5th September

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Turbine have recently announced that Lord Of The Rings OnlineTM: Riders Of RohanTM will launch on the 5th September 2010. Riders Of Rohan is the 4th major expansion to Lord Of The Rings Online (Hereafter LOTRO) and will introduce new gameplay elements as well as lots of new high level content and an increased level cap.

The most exciting addition in this expansion is the option of mounted combat. I, like many others have spent hours riding around middle earth, and not having the ability to fight on horseback was often quite frustrating. Turbine have realised this and added War-steeds. If you are familiar with the Lord of the Rings books or movies you would know that when the fellowship leave Lothlórien and head towards Rohan they encounter the Rohirrim, a group of men who fight from horseback. The game is based on Tolkien’s lore, and therefore mounted combat is a must. On top of this it will be incredibly awesome to thunder towards your enemy on a huge War-steed (and possibly yelling something in elvish if you are really cool), before turning around to look at the trampled goblins and orcs in your wake.

This expansion adds the whole Rohan area and includes a new epic storyline (quests based around the fellowship). For the first time we will see Gandalf the White (as opposed to Gandalf the Grey) and iconic Middle Earth locations such as Amon Hen, Fangorn Forest and the homes of the horse lords.

New in this expansion:

  •             Mounted Combat (customisable War-steeds, mounted enemy war bands)
  •             New Epic storyline (free for everyone)
  •             Increased Level Cap to 85
  •             Rohan Area (including iconic Amon Hen and Fangorn Forest

If you have ever wanted to explore middle earth, or follow the fellowship on their journey, there is no better time than now.
