Apple Australia finally drops 4G Branding from The New iPad online

Call it a win for the consumers here, because Apple Australia has finally decided to drop the 4G Branding for The New iPad on it’s online store – something which we stated was misleading and deceptive conduct. If anything, we were 100% on the money because the ACCC decided to take Apple the court over these false claims (that The new iPad in Australia was a 4G model), and won. The end result being that Apple had to refund those who felt misled by the 4G claims and remove the 4G branding online – which as you can see has finally been done.

As you can see below, this was the image we took a screenshot of just over a month ago, compared to the new screenshot above.

It seems that Apple has decided to take the smart route here, and not just chance the branding in the Australian Apple store, but they’ve decided to do the same thing for 4G from the US, UK, New Zealand, Canada, and Hong Kong stores, among many others. Take a look at the American Apple Store now just to see how much Apple is taking measures to prevent being fined again.

Apple have further taken to point on the Australian Apple Store by adding ‘ It is not compatible with current Australian 4G LTE networks and WiMAX networks’ just in case we weren’t aware. While we commend Apple for finally doing the right thing, we can’t appreciate the fact it took the ACCC to come down hard on Apple for them to finally change what was right.
