After having recently reported that the iPad 3 aka The new iPad might have slight overheating issues, it seems the guys over at tweakers.net have gone ahead and proven that to be the case. As you can see the left hand side of the is much hotter than the right hand side and what they’ve actually done is compared an iPad 2 to the new iPad using a thermal camera. Obviously the results speak for themselves in that the exterior of the new tablet reaches 33.6C, compared to 28.3C for the iPad 2.
However, that’s only about a 5 degree Celsius difference, which isn’t much but we’re sure the difference would be much greater for those who have complained about the new iPad being slightly too hot to hold at times. Of course, Apple’s response to this has been slightly… brutish. Take a look:
The new iPad delivers a stunning retina display, A5X chip, support for 4G LTE plus 10 hours of battery life, all while operating well within our thermal specifications. If customers have any concerns they should contact AppleCare.
Clearly someone pushed their buttons here. But Apple, if people are going to spend their hard earned money on your products, the least you could do is be a little more ‘caring’. Still, it’s an issue that is plaguing users and out poll shows that so far 66% of voters have heating problems on their iPad. Remember to Vote here and tell us about your iPad problems as well.
