Android Browser is now most used globally in the mobile scene

Not content will selling masses of phones to users, Android has taken another crown by becoming the most used mobile browser in the world! Between the months of January and February of 2012, Android slowly overtook Opera to become the number one browser in the mobile world, while leaving the iPhone browser back in third (though they should be in second by the time next month’s stats come out). Statcounter who have compiled this data were also kind enough to share the mobile browser usage of other browsers as well. Android currently sit atop the pile with a 21% browser share easily proving that the mobile world is full with competition.

What we can see is that despite the sharp drop in users, Nokia still holds a comfortable fourth with a 11% share (though they are far behind the iPhone) thanks to BlackBerry’s browser share also diminishing to 7%. Of course, Microsoft’s Windows Phone IE browser is nowhere to be seen, with estimates placing it below the 1% share which is quite disappointing this late into the game, but hopefully for them 2012 is a game changer thanks to Nokia, at least one can hope.
