Recap of the Smoked By Windows Phone Contest
For those of you who haven’t been following all the CES 2012 announcements, then you’ve probably not heard of the Smoked By Windows Phone Contest which Microsoft was running through @benthepcguy at CES 2012! What’s great about this challenge, which you can recap on by visiting #smokedbywindowsphone on twitter is that there were a set of 10 challenges set up to test if your phone was faster than a Windows Phone or not. Ben picked the challenge, and there was a trial run before to get everyone’s finger’s warmed up, before the real contest started.
The prize if you beat a Windows Phone? $100 in cash (custom rom’s were allowed as well). If you lost? You had to say you got Smoked by a Windows Phone. A really simple setup, with a great Marketing stunt for Microsoft which got over 30 people involved across the two days. So how did Microsoft and Ben do on his HTC Titan? Have a look at the video below and see for yourself:
As you can see, the Windows Phone had an amazing success rate against all kinds of phones, including the iPhone 4S and Galaxy Nexus, the newest phones from Apple and Google respectively. So how did they do in the end?
Well it while we have to wait for the exact result, Windows Phone’s won over 30 times, while only losing 3 times (and that by smallest of times). Obviously this is good news for Windows Phone’s in terms of marketing, and it allowed Ben to demo off the features to users who had never used or heard of Windows Phones.
Hopefully we see what the final results are soon.
