The World’s First Quad-Core Phone revealed – HTC Edge
The world’s first Quad-Core phone has been revealed by our friends at Pocketnow and boy does it pack some power under it’s hood, being Quad-Core and all. Dubbed the HTC Edge, this 4.7-inch power packing beast is expected to be just over 10 mm thick, feature’s a 720p screen (yay!), 1GB of RAM, and a backlit eight-megapixel camera with 28-millimeter, f/2.2 lens. Just take a minute to let that all sink in. That would make it the most powerful phone in the world at this point, and we’re already drooling reading over it’s specs. Add to that, The Edge supposedly has a AP30 Tegra 3 CPU from Nvidia, which offers four 1.5GHz cores! Furthermore, it’s expected to have 32GB internal storage and Bluetooth 4.0 as well, rounding up some impressive specs, not to mention the fact the phone does look rather juicy (should said design above stay).
Naturally, Beats Audio will also be part of the package thanks to their new deal with Beats. The HTC Edge may also see the rollout of new or improved HTC content services such as – HTC Listen music store, HTC Read bookstore, and HTC Play gaming hub with HTC Watch movie included (with HD content). The HTC Edge could also be the first Sense 4.0 device, clearly paving the way for 2012 to be HTC’s year with this flagship device. Unfortunately, the phone won’t have 4G-LTE, but who would notice amongst all those specs.
Obviously this phone will be running Android, thought which version will be loaded onto this beast will be revealed only at a later device (though we expect Ice Cream Sandwich to be on the device when it’s release after HTC’s latest announcement). For those of you already craving this device, expect it to be shipping in late Q1 to early Q2 of 2012.
