HTC Phones to get Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012

One of the big mysteries surrounding Android’s next big OS upgrade – Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) aka Android 4.0, was when HTC phones would be upgrading their current models to ICS. The other big players in Motorola and Samsung had confirmed that their devices were getting it, but HTC was the last off the blocks it seems. Well fear not HTC fans, as HTC has revealed on their Facebook page that the first wave of HTC devices to get ICS will be in early 2012 which is fairly soon. They also announced the list of HTC phones to get the ICS upgrade will be as follows:

The good news is that’s a large group of phones there, so if you’ve been putting off purchasing one of those devices just because you weren’t sure if it would get the ICS upgrade, then feel free to jump on the HTC bandwagon today! HTC hasn’t announced if these are the only devices to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update but considering that these are the newest devices from HTC, we wouldn’t be holding our breaths for other phones to get the upgrade.

However, HTC did say that “We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich” meaning that don’t throw your HTC phones away just yet, there may still be a chance for your device. All in all, great to hear HTC looking at upgrading their lineup to ICS, so we’ll be looking forward to a more exact date as 2012 rolls around.
