Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 Announced at Nokia World

Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 Announced at Nokia World

Well Day 1 of the Nokia World 2011 conference has just finished, and buy did they have some great announcements. Two brand new Nokia Windows Phone were announced – The Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia Lumia 710, the second of which is meant to be Nokia’s cheaper Windows Phone. We watched the whole annoucement and we were quite impressed with the phones and how they look. They will come preloaded with Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) so that’s another plus on that side, but expected.

First up is Nokia Lumia 800, which is the higher end device of the launch today. We’ve already spoken about it plenty with leaks revolving around Sea Ray, before recently leaking Nokia 800 pics. It’s officially part of the Nokia Lumia range now, and it’s officially called the Nokia Lumia 800. It’s a curvilicious device that looks great, and packs some impressive specs in it as well which are as follows (as taken from the official spec sheet):

  • Processor: 1.4 Ghz Single Core Snapdragon MSM8255 (WCDMA)
  • Display: 3.7-inch WVGA (800×480) AMOLED capacitive touch ClearBlack display
  • OS: Windows Phone Release – Mango
  • Memory: 16GB internal user memory, 512MB program memory
  • Camera: 8 Megapixel auto-focus Carl Zeiss, LED flash, Video capturing MPEG-4 720p @ 30 fps
  • Size/Weight: 116.5 mm x 61.2 mm x 12.1 mm (and weights about 142 grams)
  • Battery: 1450 mAh
  • Talk time: (GSM/WCDMA) up to 13 h/9.5h

It certainly is impressive in specs, and although we would have wished for a larger screen, we’ll have to be content with the 3.7-inch screen for now. It’s very similar to the Nokia N9 (but smaller) and we love how it looks. It will be available in Cyan, Magenta, and Black November 16th in Selected markets around the world for 420 Euros ($570). It’s a gorgeous device that we want to have in our hands right now!

Nokia Lumia 710

The Nokia Lumia 710 on the other hand is aimed at a lower and more affordable price point for people not wanting to spend as much as the Nokia Lumia 800. It’s got still a power packed device which delivers much more than you would expect with that price points (especially when you factor in that no features are missing from the phone). The official specs are as follows:

  • Processor: 1.4 Ghz Single Core Snapdragon MSM8255 (WCDMA)
  • Display: 3.7” WVGA (800×480) TFT capacitive touch ClearBlackTM display
  • OS: Windows Phone Release – Mango
  • Memory: 512MB RAM, 8GB storage
  • Camera: 5Mpix auto-focus, LED flash, Video capturing MPEG-4 720p @ 30 fps
  • Size/Weight: 119mm x 62.4mm x 12.5mm (and it weights 125.5 grams)
  • Battery: 1300 mAh
  • Talk time: (GSM/WCDMA) up to 6.9 h/7.6h

Clearly similar specs to the Nokia Lumia 800, but the difference is that it’s got a small battery, a LCD screen only, and a lower camera megapixel. As we said, this being the more affordable model, it’s priced at 270 Euros ($365) which is one of the cheapest Windows Phones we’ve seen yet. A great strategy for Nokia to offer a cheaper, more affordable but good Windows Phone here. The Nokia Lumia 710 will be hitting Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan by the end of the year, with additional markets in the first part of 2012. It will also be available in several different unannounced colours as well.

Welcome to a Nokia Windows Phone World.
