iPhone 4S Sales hits 4 million over the weekend
News of this first broke yesterday, but we wanted to confirm the news before we posted it, but turns out it was true all along! Yes the rather ‘disappointing‘ iPhone 4S which people moaned was no iPhone 5 has gone sale crazy over it’s first weekend out, selling just over 4 million units worldwide (and by Worldwide we mean US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK). Technically speaking, it’s over 500,000 units per country on average (with maths that clearly makes no sense since clearly most sales were from the US).
What we can however find interesting about this is a quick comparison to the iPhone 4 which sold 1.7 million units in the USA over it’s first weekend when it came out over a year ago. We’d love Apple to release the sales figure in the USA alone, just to give a good comparison to this years Siri-ously ‘not-so-different’ model (although we would die to have that camera in our phone). From what we know, most of our friends who decided to splash out on the iPhone 4Same (we kid of course) are those who were on the iPhone 3G or 3GS, and we highly think it made sense for those people to upgrade, since the 4S is a massive upgrade from their models.
Of course, this large figure is set to increase at the end of this month when the iPhone 4S hits 28 more countries at the very least, with many more avid Apple fans (or future fans) clearly ready to jump on the iPhone 4S bandwagon. The questions is this – Will this become the most popular phone of all time? Well we don’t really know yet, but let’s see how sales go once the phone is released globally.
