HTC Announces a Giant – The HTC Sensation XL

Purchase: Purchase the HTC Sensation XL Straight from Clove Technology UK for £405.00, roughly $645 AUD (before VAT if you’re in Europe) which is a great price.

HTC just revealed their latest Android packing phone, and it’s a big one aptly named the HTC Sensation XL (Extra Large never looked so good). And what’s more, this bad boy is packing HTC Beats, first seen in the HTC Sensation XE, clearly pointing out that the Sensation is the new range of HTC phone’s to look out for. Some of you may recognise this phone as there have been plenty of leaks for this phone online (under the codename – runnymede), but it’s good to finally see what it looks like.

One thing we noticed right away is that it looks exactly like the HTC Titan, but in white which we’re sure may lead people to a very confused buying decision since they’re exactly the same from the outside save for color. Either way, let’s break the specs down on the phone:

  • Screen: 4.7-inch gorilla glass screen (same as Titan)
  • Resolution: 800 x 480 Super LCD display (Same as Titan)
  • Camera: 8 megapixel real camera (Same as Titan)
  • Processor: 1.5GHz  processor (oddly it’s a single core, most newer Android phones tend to use dual cores these days. Oh and Same as Titan)
  • RAM: 768MB (More than the Titan)
  • Storage: 16GB internal storage (Same as Titan)
  • Thickness: 9.9mm (Same as Titan)

So this sounds like an exact duplicate of the Windows Phone Titan does it not? Not quite! As you know, the color already differentiates the two, but once you add on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Beats Audio, then you’ve got a whole new device. Still we do wish HTC hadn’t gone the lazy route here by copying one phone, but we still like the look of this phone and we find ourselves hoping for a white HTC Titan in the future.

So it sounds like it might be quite the Android catch, and we think you should consider this. If you’re not convinced, then you’ll change your mind when you find out the Sensation XL comes with HTC YourBeats in-ears (aka iBeats) from Beats by Dre. Classy! As of now, there’s been no release date (but it will be around early November) or pricing, but the page will be updated as soon as we hear word.
