Two New HTC Windows Phones Announced
So HTC just held an event in London which turned out to be a Windows Phone Exclusive event in which two new Windows Phone’s were announced by HTC – The Radar and Titan. The great news is that both phones will launch with Windows Phone 7.5, or better known as Mango which is always amazing to hear. Let’s have a quick look at each of them.
The HTC Radar is HTC’s latest Windows Phone, and based on the specs it seems to be a Medium level device. Coated in white, the HTC Radar features a 1GHz processor (like all 1st Gen Windows Phones), a 3.8-inch screen, 8GB of on board storage, 512MB of RAM, and while it seems like it will have a slide out keyboard, the device is actually touch-only. We feel it resembles the HTC Trophy quite a bit in it’s specs and look (which is not a bad thing). The 5 megapixel camera is a 28mm rear camera, which claims a f2.2 maximum aperture for better shots in lower light conditions which is useful since HTC phones have been shocking to say the least in low light conditions.
It also features a front facing camera for future Video Chatting capabilities, most likely via Skype. Frankly it’s not much to get excited over, but it will be a lower costing Windows Phone Device which should appeal to people who just want a Windows Phone without paying an excessive amount. As for the release date and Pricing, the Radar is expected to be 399 euros ($569) off-contract (expect it to be lower when it get’s released), and it is expected to be launched for sale in the next 3 weeks.
UPDATE: Clove UK is now taking pre-orders for the HTC Radar! Click here to Pre-Order! It’s priced at £285.00 which is roughly $458 USD without shipping, which is much cheaper than the HTC pricing.
The HTC Titan seems to be HTC’s flagship Windows Phone device so far, and for good reason! The Titan will feature a impressively speedy 1.5GHz processor which should blow any current Windows Phone device out of the water. It’s main draw will of course be the huge 4.7-inch Super LCD display, with a resolution of 480 x 800 which we actually find much too low for a screen this big, but it’ll still be great to watch movies on this device on the go. The Titan is apparently thinner than the iPhone 4 which is great to hear, especially since it is so large. It features the same sensor as the HTC Radar, but bumps it’s specs up to 8 megapixels as opposed to 5. It also features 512MB of RAM which we feel is slighly lower than it should be for this model, but still enough and it also has 16GB of on board storage. And based on the promo video, it’ll also have some sort of Panorama Capture mode which is nice to see.
The device is slightly more expensive than the Radar (obvious since it’s a better phone) and it will run you 599 euros ($855) which is quite hefty in our opinion, but hopefully carrier costs will be lower depending on your country. This phone is also expected to be released around the same time as the Radar, so give it about 3 weeks (give or take a few days).

Both phones will also come with optional accessories such as Docks which you can use for your own needs. It’s great to see HTC showing some initiative by showing off the first new 2nd Gen Windows Phones, all running Mango. So what do you guys think, yay or nay for HTC’s latest phones?
