Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S announced
Sony have announced their latest phone will be the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S, and while it seems to be a refresh of the original arc that was released earlier this year, the specs have been mercifully bumped up. The super slim device (8.7mm thick at its thinnest point) will continue to be slim, and it seems it will now feature a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor (single core), and a 8.1 MP camera Exmor R sensor that includes a “3D sweep panorama” mode. That basically means users will be able to take a normal 2D picture and the camera will convert them into a 3D image (but not with stereoscopic). Whether this is something that actually works, or just a gimmick to sell the phone remains to be seen, but either way the phone is already looking nice.
The phone will feature a 4.2-inch screen with what Sony Ericsson is calling Reality Display (the ability to display Bravia TV like screen quality). The phone will be available in 5 different colours and be launching officially in October. When it launches in October, it’ll come with Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) straight out of the box which is nice, although we’d be wondering if it will get an Ice Cream Sandwich update any time soon. Either way, it’s looking like a great device which might just make us upgrade our current devices to some arc S flavor.
