Nokia confirms 1 Windows Phone for Q4 2011, Australia first?
There’s been a lot of speculation as when Nokia Windows Phone’s will be releasing, and we probably won’t get a definitive answer till Nokia’s World Conference at the end of October. However, Nokia’s official Twitter account may have just given us an ideal answer in replying to a user that the 1st Nokia handset with Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) will be launching in Q4, with obviously plenty more planned for 2012. An interesting to note is that they cc’d Nokia Australia in that reply, perhaps hinting at Australia being the first place that Nokia Windows Phone’s will launch. Curious since Australia never get’s anything first, and secondly, our Techin5 Nokia rep said that she expected Nokia WP7 in Australia in Q1 of 2012.
Definitely some confusion as to who’s right here, but we’re not going to make any calls till we get closer to Nokia’s World conference next month (in which we do expect to see some Windows Phone’s shown off). And frankly we’re more inclined to trust our rep on this, but the only person who might know for sure would be Nokia’s CEO – Stephen Elop. Anticipation is certainly hot for a company to show off their new products, especially since they’ve put more faith into the Windows Phone 7 Operating System than any other company out there (perhaps even more than Microsoft).
All we know that it’s going to be an exciting Nokia World Conference.
