Microsoft boasts 500,000 downloads of Windows 8 in 12 hours
According to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s newest (yet unreleased) Operating System Windows 8 was released to the public yesterday as a developer build. That Developer build proved so yearn worthy, that it was downloaded 500,000 (more by now) in a span of 12 hours. That’s quite impressive to say the least for a OS that is still in it’s alpha stages. Of course we were forced to take a quote out of Charlie Sheen’s page to say that Windows 8 is ‘Bi-Winning’ because at the end of the day, it’s just half finished.
We know lot’s of people have downloaded it, because our twitter feeds were flooded with talk of Windows 8. As for us, we’re holding off downloading it for now (perhaps on an older computer soon) because this Alienware laptop is much to valuable to taint with anything that’s not at least in it’s beta stages. As it is, most people are complaining that Windows 8 is currently not the most effective with a mouse and keyboard, as opposed to on a tablet.
Still Steve maintains that there’s a lot of work to be done, and we’re going to have to agree on this one. It’s still an unfinished product that has a long way to go, but the best part is that despite this, it’s already looking like an absolutely fantastic device that we want to get out hands on as soon as possible.
