Is Apple getting Cocky? Sues Food Company for a logo that barely looks like theirs…

Look we get it Apple, you want to sue anyone and everyone who infringes on your patents and logo’s, after all you’ve got an image and brand to protect. The problem is, you can sue when you know you’ve got a good case, but this… this is something different. Apple have just sued Sichuan Fangguo Food Co for stealing their logo. Yep, totally makes sense except for the part it doesn’t look anything like Apple’s logo (just saying). Rather, it looks more of an infringement on LG’s logo, but they’ve stayed quiet about it and haven’t taken any actions against the Food Company. Our question is, is Apple getting so cocky that they’re suing any company that remotely resembles their iconic ‘Apple’ logo (even if it only resembles maybe 10% of it)?
In all fairness, it’s almost like LG was waiting for Apple to take care of all the legal works required for this. Perhaps the leaf on the logo is apparently too close for comfort for Apple? Frankly it boggles our minds. Fangguo CEO Zhao Yi had this to say “There’s a leaf so you can tell it’s an apple, but it also contains two Chinese characters… The orientation is also different, and ours is a totally different shape… Besides, when I started Fangguo, I had never even heard of Apple.”
And before you go saying it’s impossible for Yi to have never heard of Apple, the chances are actually quite possible considering that Yi first registered their logo in 1997 (just as Steve Jobs returned to Apple). So our advice to Apple? Get off your high horse and stop pointless and frivolous lawsuits that have almost nothing to do with logo.
