Rumor: iPad 3 to have High Resolution Display

Yep, it’s that time of the year where we start throwing out iPad rumors, in this case it’s the iPad 3’s turn. Now here at Techin5 we don’t exactly like reporting on rumor due to the fact they can turn out to be unreliable, but this was too juicy to ignore. According to the Wall Street Journal’s sources, Apple is readying the iPad 3 for early 2012 which means there’s less than 6 months to go. The beauty of that rumor, according to the WSJ is that the iPad 3 is expected to have a High Resolution display, dwarfing the one currently available on the iPad 2.

The iPad 3 will allegedly have an impressive 2048 x 1536 resolution display, basically doubling what the iPad 2 (and iPad 1) currently are capable of. Just to clarify, the iPad 2 currently has a resolution of  1024 x 768, which is already quite high amongst tablets, although the Grid 10 has it beat by a slim margin. Does this mean we’ll finally be getting a retina display for the iPad 3? Most probably if the rumors are right, however do not forget that the iPad 2 was rumored to have the same 2048 x 1536 resolution before it’s launch so we’re not getting our hopes up too high.

If on the off chance this does turn out to be true, then we were quite right when we predicted this back in our article in March on why not to purchase the iPad 2, or rather one of the reasons not to. Still, rather than getting your hopes up too high, we’d suggest keeping a level head and not raising your expectations too high… just in case.
