Nokia preparing $129 million campaign for Windows Phone
If anyone was doubting Nokia’s dedication to the Windows Phone platform, and their plan to be successful with it then now is the time to take another look at the situation. According to rumors coming from across the globe, Nokia is planning on investing a huge amount of money into advertising their upcoming phones, starting with their first phone (dubbed Searay) which is expected in september or October (and yes it will come with Mango), and then for the following 6 months after. $130 million (£80 million) isn’t chump change when you think about it, especially since Microsoft themselves invested $500 million into marketing for the entire platform.
Frankly, it’s about time, since its clear that none of the other manufacturers are bothering with mass advertising, with the likes of Samsung prefering to focus their advertising campaign on phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 (and why not it’s a brilliant phone), but lack of advertising for Windows Phones is a little worrysome.
“We are excited about the Nokia with Windows phone, but it’s not our policy to comment on specific campaigns for unannounced products”, said a Nokia spokesman. Whenever we hear that line, we can’t help but think its true, as that’s the line they usually use for shutting down premises which are in fact true. Either way, here’s hoping Nokia’s multi-million campaign works out, we hope it will.
