8 years of Android (infographic)

We have all heard of the Android Juggernaut, steam rolling it’s way passed opponents till it becomes the Number 1 phone Operating System (OS) in the world. Well, while it’s not quite #1 just yet, it’s very close to the top and it’s been a great long 8 year ride (or less than 4 years if you look at it from the time when the first Android phone – The G1 was released). They’ve had plenty of ups and downs (more ups frankly) and Android, powered by Google (the company not the search Engine) has risen at such a rapid pace, it’s hard to forget that they started out as almost nothing.

What you may not have known is that Android wasn’t originally created by Google, but was snapped up by Google less than 2 years after it was created, before the OS ever took off. In a way you could say that Google created Android but never founded it. Nevertheless, it’s been Google all the way since 2005, and the infographic below will give you a look at Android’s life till now better than we could put in words. So scroll on down and go wild reading, and remember that if you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below.
