Confirmed: Only one Wii U Controller per Console
Well ever since we first wrote about the Nintendo Wii U, The Wii’s successor, we were overcome with excitement, and a host of questions. The most important question that came to our minds was, will you be able to play more than one interestingly designed Wii U controller, and if so, how much will it cost. Well the answer is simple – Nothing. Unfortunately according to Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata in an recent interview that took place, is that the possibility of using two Wii U controllers on the console is not even being considered (though it might be possible). Essentially, the Wii U might be able to support Dual Wii U controllers, with split screen action and everything, but the controller itself will be too expensive to sell as a standalone.
Iwata went on to say that consoles will ship with only one Wii U Controller and developers are being urged to design games with only one Wii U controller in mind. However that’s not to say the console won’t support multiplayer, as it will. Player Two (and three and four) will have to settle for using the basic Wii Remote that you can purchase today, which we’re sure you have plenty of them lying around anyways.
