Alienware M18x officially goes on sale

Alienware M18x

Not feeling the love with the new iMac’s from Apple? Then don’t look too far because Dell has officially launched the most powerful laptop in the world – The Alienware M18x. Alienware’s are most certainly the gaming laptop most people look at in envy , and the M18x is no exception, adding a host of features and cramming the 18.4inch sized computer with powerful goodies. If you’ve never handled an Alienware before, don’t be surprised when you find yourself shocked to realise that Alienware laptops are just as fast as desktop, thanks to their special Alien Technology they place in each laptop (and by Alien Technology we really just mean the best of the best).

As always, Dell give’s you a host of customizable options within the M18x tech specs, and as with all Alienware’s you’re not always looking at the cheapest laptops in the world, but you sure damn well get what you pay for – Alienware Quality and Power (and 16 pounds of weight). Prices start of at $1,999 which isn’t too shabby at all, so let’s break down the cheapest and most expensive options here (All prices are in USD)

For the $1,999 model you get the Alienware M18x and the following specs:

  • Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU (Central Processing Unit) with 2.0GHz speeds (or turbo up to 2.8Ghz)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 4GB of RAM (1333MHz speeds)
  • 1.5GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M Video Card (Quite a good video card for the lowest video card in the M18x, should allow you to play most games on ‘High’ Settings)
  • 320GB Harddrive (with 7200RPM speeds which is as good as you can get unless you pay quite a but more for SSD drives – Solid Slate Drives)
  • DVD Reader/Burner
  • Along with the usual, 1 year warranty, mouse pad, cables and an Alienware cap

$1,999 get’s you a decent package, but a serious gamer knows you won’t want the lowest package.

Of course while not everyone is going to do this, you can also max out the amount of specs you want in your gaming monster. $5,932.98 (before taxes) gets you the most powerful Laptop ever, with the maximum specs you can get (although I myself would never max out the laptop like this). Either way, the specs are:

  • Intel Core i7 2920XM Overclocked Turbo Boost to 4.0GHz (This means it’s guaranteed to be overclocked to 4.0ghz, which for a laptop is blindingly fast).
  • Windows 7 Ultimate
  • 16GB of RAM (1600MHz speed)
  • Dual 2GB AMD Radeon HD 6970M Video Cards (In Cross-Fire Mode) (These are probably the most powerful graphic cards available for laptops today)
  • 2x 256GB (512GB) Solid State Drive (The fastest internal hard drive for your laptop)
  • Internal 60GHz WirelessHD Transmitter (This means you can actually stream High Definition Quality videos and games to your tv from your laptop wirelessly!)
  • Blu-Ray/DVD Reader, DVD Read/Write Drive
  • High Definition 5.1 Performace Sound Card (to make those games sound oh so much sweeter)
  • Along with the usual, 1 year warranty, mouse pad, cables and an Alienware cap

You can of course in both cases increase your Warranty to the 4 year Advanced Plan, which only costs $509 extra. So if you have just over $6,000 lying around, I suggest you go out and NOT spend it all on the Alienware, but you pick and choose what you want. I currently run on an Alienware M17x r2 and I can most certainly tell you that no other laptop comes CLOSE to the raw power and speeds of an Alienware.Of course, if the M18x is too big for you, there are always the M11x, M14x, and M17x options you can choose from…. but Real Gamers choose the best of the best. Head on down to the source link and start customizing and/or buying (unless you live in Australia where Dell has ‘NOT’ released the M18x yet)!
