Dell Streak Pro vs Samsung Galaxy 10.1

Dell Streak Pro vs Samsung Galaxy 10.1

Dell Streak Pro

There has been some speculation on whether dell ever intended to release a 10 inch tablet, and come June, Dell finally intends on releasing their 10 inch version to compete with other 10 inch tablets on the market place. To be honest, I’ve been looking forward for this for quite some time. The specs for the device are as follows:-

  • 10” display WXGA (Wide screen resolution) (resolution- 1280×800)
  • An Nvidia Tegra CPU (T25) (Nvidia Tegra Chips relate to power)
  • 2 microphones (For better recording)
  • 2 webcams (Front and Back)
  • Android Honeycomb 3.0
  • Dell Stage 1.5 user interface
  • A USB port (Still under consideration)
  • A docking station for an Ethernet port

The Dell stage 1.5 is going to be a stack of applications, and it will be the skin Dell will be placing on top of Android. The amount of space has not been specified but it is rumored to be available in both 64GB and 128GB according to a few sources, which is considerably more than most tablets you find in the market today (double the iPad 2!)

Galaxy 10.1

The Galaxy 10.1 tablet was announced earlier in the year (In march I believe). Well the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tab is probably and most likely going to be one of the best competitors to the Dell Streak Pro.

  • 10.1” WXGA (Wide screen resolution) display (Resolution: 1280×800)
  • 2 Camera’s (2 and 3 megapixel) (Front and Back)
  • 1 GHz dual core CPU (rumored to be Tegra)
  • microSD slot (for expanded storage)
  • 3.5mm Head Phone jack
  • SIM Card slot
  • Available in 16GB and 32GB

The processor available on the Galaxy Tab is rumored to be the Tegra 2, as it has been used in many other tablets, and they are quite powerful little chips. It will also more than likely include the same Android Honeycomb 3.0 interface that has been taking the world by storm, and will also feature on the Dell Streak Pro (10)

Advantages & Disadvantages

Well, at the start of the article; I wasn’t expecting them to be both ever so similar. The only real difference is the capacity amongst the two. For the capacity, the Dell Streak Pro, by far is better, 128GB vs. 32GB. As for the Cameras, I’d assume they’ll be equivalent even though dell didn’t specify the megapixel, I doubt they would ship it with anything less than 3. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) on the Galaxy might be weaker or equivalent to the one in the Dell Streak Pro, but we can’t be sure until Dell and Samsung both release more information. I do like the USB port being considered on the Dell Streak Pro. To me, looking at all of the different on both, I would pick the Dell Streak Pro over the Samsung Galaxy 10.1.
