AU: Original Samsung Galaxy Tab going for $299 (Updated)

Update: Apparently JB Hi-Fi is selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab for $360, making it the cheapest available in Australia. (Source – Oz Bargains)

Update 2: Telstra has once again dropped the price to $299 outright, unlocked with free delivery. Now that’s a better price. (Source – Telstra)

That’s right people, the Original Samsung Galaxy Tab, one of the better ‘first’ iPad competitors is now being sold for a low low price of $408 outright, directly from Telstra. If you take into account that just 6 months ago, the Galaxy Tab was launched in Australia for $999, then this is quite the deal.

This sharp price drop clearly indicates that Telstra are trying to move as many Galaxy Tab’s as they can before the better (and sexier) Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v ($729 outright) hits the Australian markets some time this month. The obvious differences being that the Galaxy 10.1v will be running Android’s latest Operating System – Honeycomb while the original Galaxy Tab is still stuck with Froyo, and older OS. That and the 10.1v features a 10.1 inch screen, while the original Tab has 7 inches. If you’re thinking of picking up a tablet soon, it might never hurt to put down for the smaller and more portable 7inch model, which is quite a bit cheaper.
