Apple Sues Samsung
In what may be the biggest lawsuit profile yet in the tech world, Apple has just sued Samsung Electronics for copying the ‘look and feel’ of its iPad and iPhone. They’re not half wrong, as I myself have always thought the Samsung Galaxy S 4G (pictured above) look remarkably similar to the iPhone 3G/3GS in almost every way, and it seems Apple concurs. It’s apparently a claim for intellectual property infringement (technology apple owns basically) and Apple says:
“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.”
So basically Apple claims they made something, Samsung copied them because they were so good, and we’re suing them because we can. Which I guess is fair enough, but how this case will end is anyone’s guess. But talk about ruining a good business relationship this way, as Apple uses plenty of Samsung Electronics in their devices, and this may be a problem in the future.
Let’s not forget the underlying tone here, of it being an eventual Apple vs Google suit, since Samsung mainly uses Android (which is produced by Google). While Apple may never attack Google directly, they certainly are making sure they are attacking Android Customers like Motorola, and now Samsung. How this will go, could be anyones guess for now.
