Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – First Look

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – First Look

Let me put it this way, Uncharted 1 was one of the better games released on the PS3. It was a game no one had heard of before (as in it wasn’t a big release title), and it blew everyone away by how good it actually was. Developers Naughty Dog (developers of such games like Crash Bandicoot) managed to create a Character by the name of Nathan Drake, put him in a game which could well be described as a mix between Tomb-Raider and Indiana Jones, and turned it into what I still call one of the most enjoyable games on the PS3. The story was fun, the controls worked well, and the in-game puzzles didn’t make you want to bang your head on the wall. The graphics were quite good, and our only gripe was that the non-important characters weren’t as detailed. The single player story gave you a decent 10 hours of gameplay, but unfortunately didn’t feature a multi-player mode. One of 2007’s better games for sure.

Then late 2009 came the much anticipated sequel – Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the story of Nathan Drake, a fortune-hunter with a shady reputation and an even shadier past who is lured back into the treacherous world of thieves and mercenary treasure-seekers. The tenth game by premier PlayStation 3 developer Naughty Dog, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves allows players to take control of Drake and embark on a journey that will push him to his physical, emotional and intellectual limits to discover the real truth behind the lost fleet of Marco Polo and the legendary Himalayan valley of Shambhala (IGN). This game absolutely blew my mind, and I still call this one of the best games on the PS3 ever made, 1.5 years after its release.

The environments in the game were breath taking, the characters realistic, the gameplay was improved a decent amount, and the storyline was so good, that it’s being turned into a movie soon. It was longer than the first game, and added a multi-player mode, where I’ve spent countless hours playing. I have never once heard anyone say a bad thing about Uncharted 2, which show’s you what an incredible job Naughty Dog did in producing this game.

1-11-11. Mark that date down in your calendars, for that is when Uncharted 3 gets released. 1st of November 2011. This has been one game I’ve been looking forward to for some time now! While we don’t know much about this game yet, we DO know that the graphics are going to be as mind blowing as ever, gameplay as fun as ever, and the storyline should sweep us off our feet for the third time.

Fortune hunter Nathan Drake is catapulted headlong into an adventure that takes him on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert in a search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands.” This journey pits him and his mentor Victor Sullivan against the occult treachery of a shadowy clandestine organization and its ruthless leader. When the terrible secrets of this lost city are unearthed, Drake’s quest descends into a desperate bid for survival that strains the limits of his endurance and forces him to confront his deepest fears (IGN).

We recommend (FULLY) that you play Uncharted 1 and 2 before you play Uncharted 3, not because you’ll be completely lost if you jump straight into the 3rd game, but because it’s great fun to see how the storyline has evolved (and will evolve). Once you play 1 and 2, trust us, you’ll be begging for Uncharted 3 to be released. They all follow the same storyline arc, where you follow Nathan Drake and his mentor (and friend) Victor Sullivan across dangerous terrain, while fighting off dangerous men. While this may sound boring to some, trust me when I say you feel like you’re part of the Uncharted world sometimes. And the best part? Nathan Drake always gets the women.

We wish we could have brought you more information, but as far as we know, there isn’t much more to go on apart from the main villain in Uncharted 3 – Katherine Marlowe, an older British Lady (making this the first time the main villain is a female), who might actually be a 450-year old immortal as the rumors go. Don’t let that bit of fantasy put you off the Uncharted scene, rest assured it’s all part of the Uncharted Series Charm. Meet our villain in question in the video below.

Do note that this thread will be updated in time with any new information we get on this fabulously exciting game. We leave you now with more video’s (including gameplay) and pictures from the new Uncharted 3 game, so enjoy! (Uncharted 3 will be available on the 1st of November 2011 for PS3 only)
