Internet Explorer 9 downloaded 2.3 million times on day 1
According to Windows Steam Blog (the official Internet Explorer Blog), Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft’s latest browser, was downloaded 2.35 million times in its first 24 hours of release. We’re slightly impressed, since Internet Explorer’s (IE) popularity has been slowly decreasing due to strong competition from Firefox and Google Chrome. However, IE still continues to be the most popular internet browser in the world, and we think that, like us, people really noticed how much better IE9 was from the Beta and RC (release candidate) releases.
Obviously this still pales in comparison to the 8 million times Firefox 3 was downloaded when released in 2008, but it only shows that IE is on its way back with this great improvement. Testing times have shown that IE9 is on par with Google Chrome, which has the fastest internet browser speeds, and quite a bit faster than Firefox, Opera, and Safari, the other competitors. If you use Internet Explorer and you haven’t upgraded to IE9, you’re missing out. Trust us on that.
