Amazon’s Android App Store launches March 22 – With Angry Birds Rio

According to Wired, Amazon will be launching their very own Android App store for Android devices on March 22 – Thats a Tuesday folks. From what we know so far, it will have some of the same applications you find on the Android App Store, but as well as some exclusives you won’t find there, such as the new Angry Birds Game – Angry Birds Rio (which features 60 levels, new boss fights, for 99 cents). Obviously the Angry Birds game is a huge coup for the Amazon App Store, as Angry Birds is one of the most popular games available right now (it certainly is the best selling on mobile platforms).

The other great things about the Amazon App Store is that some applications are actually cheaper than the Android App Store! This can only be good for consumers as price competition is healthy, and that means we get cheaper apps in the long run! Sadly, this is only for Android devices, so those on other platforms will just have to wait and see what you get in the coming weeks. Apps can be downloaded either from Amazon or your Android device, so stay tuned for more.
